At first glance the Internet looks like an easy way to advertise to millions of people but anyone who has worked in the Internet advertising market knows that it is rather tricky to do. The competition on the Internet is fierce to say the least. This article looks at what you can do to compete and get some good results from your advertising.

First I would like to warn you that there are people out there ready to take your hard earned money in promise of thousands of visitors to your website. When you see an advertisment that says "10,000 hits to your site for just $20.00" ask yourself this question: "if this traffic is so good why would they sell those valuable hits to me? Why not just contact those people and sell them their own goods or services?" The answer is that the hits are simply fake or non-responsive making them entirelyworthless. Avoid these websites like the plague especially the so-called "email blasters". Most if not all of these types of offers are total scams. Are there real email service companies on the Internet? Sure but the real companies are very high priced and are hard to distinguish from some expensive scam websites so I still say avoid them.

There are plenty of advertising sites that are free and you can get some traffic that way. I will lead you to a great site that lists some free ways at the end of this article but you should know that getting paying customers that can be slow.

So how should you go about advertising in a way that really works? To know which advertising method performs best, you can usually simply
observe your own behavior. Chances are, you found this article you are reading by searching the Internet. So you can assume that lots of other people will do just as you did. So you can assume that you need your site listed in the search engines also. And you would be right. Search traffic is much more effective than any advertising service because the customers are searching for exactly what you are offering.

Now how can you get listed in the search engines and get high enough placement to get a flood of traffic? I will show you a site that explains all about how to do it at the end of this article but I?ll just say that it requires some learning. However, don't be scared away by that because it is no more difficult to master than any other tricky endeavor you've ever done.

One of the main methods I show to new people who {{{want|need} to get the word out about anything is a site called Squidoo. There you can get a free site on the Internet and get listed into the search engines in only a {couple of|few}}} days and the site has lots of articles that can show you most anything ever need to know about advertising or anything else for that matter. It is 100% free and is the best first step toward getting massive traffic from the search engines.
